GIRLS DAY OUT!

My friend Cristina and I loaded up the car and paddled Torba, a typically calm bay in Bodrum. Torba is always a safe bet for calm water on the Bodrum peninsula. The day we paddled was a bit windy everywhere else, but Torba was calm and glassy. The water is a few degrees warmer there compared to the other beaches on the peninsula, which for me is a big plus!

Torba bay has a small jetty, a few resorts, and an old church scattered along the shoreline. The bay was pretty quiet with the odd parasailing boat going out. We were so happy to find calm, warm waters and paddled for about an hour.

I stopped to play with some yoga poses...SUP yoga is my new favorite thing!

SUP selfie :)

The water was so clear and turquoise, although it looks green here.

You can just make out the church on the shore, it's the small brown structure.

We parked the car next to Casa Del Arte behind a fish restaurant called Gonca Balık. We unloaded our boards in front of Gonca Balık where they have a small slice of public beach.

We then decided to sit at Gonca Balık and have a glass of rose and some watermelon. The perfect end to a perfect afternoon in Bodrum!

BE HAPPY!

Nothing makes me happier than doing something active outdoors. Whether it's SUP or something else you love, I hope you are inspired to get out and do something active this weekend!!

Weekend Roadtrip (Bodrum-Gökova-Aşı Koyu)

This weekend my husband and I took a road trip from Bodrum to Gökova, then on to Aşı KoyuWe stayed with friends in Gökova who then showed us their new paddle paradise in the small town of Aşı Koyu (near Sarıgerme).

We stayed our first night with our friends who have an amazing summer house in Akyaka/Gökova. The drive from Bodrum to Gökova is about 2 hours. We found some baby snails in their garden! So cute! :)))

The next morning we headed out for Aşı Koyu. We took our friend's surfer son with us :) From Gökova to Aşı Koyu you will drive a little over an hour.

To get to Aşı Koyu you take the main road from Akyaka to Fethiye, before reaching Fethiye you will see a sign to Sarıgerme. You take a right towards Sarıgerme and follow the road until you find a fork with a sign directing you to Aşı Koyu. You will make a right at the fork. This road is unpaved and goes for about 16km till it dead ends at Aşı Koyu beach.

The beach is quiet with few people, a couple boats came in and out throughout the day but it has the feeling of a private beach. There is a cafe but it's a bit pricey. We packed a picnic lunch but rented chairs and umbrellas.

This small rock island was great for snorkeling. You could find many fish around it and the water was pristine.

My girlfriend Eva and I paddled around the bay to the right, we found some amazing caves on the sides of the cliffs and stopped to take some selfies :)) and do some yoga ;)

Eva's son followed us snorkeling. This place is truly amazing for snorkeling, diving and SUP.

Check out those caves!

Time to pack up and go home:(
Great weekend with friends outdoors! Hang loose everyone!

If you are hungry on the road I can recommend this roadside restaurant. Their specialty is tandir, slow cooked meat, in this case goat. Their gozleme was also good. It is on the right side of the main road between Ortaca and Gökova if you are headed towards Gökova. You will recognize it by the fountain of water spewing from the front:) Afiyet Olsun!
